May is SACOTA Membership Month

Springs Area Council of the Arts (SACOTA) holds its membership drive each year during the month of May. The group depends on annual memberships to support its programs during the year. Individuals and businesses who contribute in this manner are providing a financial foundation that makes it possible for SACOTA to present quality concerts and other events for the community and surrounding area at very affordable prices.

Jerauld Conservation District Promotes Stewardship Week

Jerauld Conservation District (JCD), in partnership with the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD), is celebrating the 69th Annual Stewardship Week from April 28 – May 5, 2024. This year’s Stewardship Week theme is “May the Forest Be with You, Always.”

WSHS Spring Play Delights Audiences with Comedy “The Cow Tippers”

Three performances, one of which sold out completely, drew huge crowds of community, friends and family to enjoy “The Cow Tippers,” written by Eddie McPherson and performed by the Wessington Springs Drama Club. The 1905 Historic Opera House was the place to be during the evenings of April 26 and 27 as well as Sunday afternoon April 28. Wessington Springs actors had the crowd rolling with laughter as they displayed their many talents during the performance of the comedy.

Construction Season Begins in Springs

Construction is officially underway on one of two longdiscussed infrastructureprojects slated to be completed this spring and summer. Underground work began Tuesday as a Menning Excavating crew, shown above, worked on installing new water mains at the corner of College Avenue and 2nd Street.

Mid Dakota Bus Tour Postponed to May 22

The Mid Dakota bus tour originally scheduled for May 1 has been postponed to May 22. Those interested in attending are encouraged to contact City Hall to sign up for the tour.

School, community mourn loss of educator

The Wessington Springs School District and greater community mourn the loss of longtime Springs resident and teacher Lisa Bergeleen, after hearing news that she passed away suddenly at Avera McKenn
