The Mid Dakota bus tour originally scheduled for May 1 has been postponed to May 22. Those interested in attending are encouraged to contact City Hall to sign up for the tour.

Following last month’s City of Wessington Springs City Council vote to submit documents for funding a regional water connection in lieu of building a new water plant, a tour has been organized for members of the public to visit various facilities throughout the Mid Dakota Rural Water System.

With the goal of introducing residents of Wessington Springs to Mid Dakota, leadership from the regional water system announced a free bus tour showcasing Mid Dakota’s facilities across the region. The bus will accommodate 45 riders and seats are first-come, firstserved. Interested parties may sign up for the tour by calling Wessington Springs City Hall at 605-539-1691.

The tour will kick off by leaving Springs at 9 a.m. sharp and head west on Highway 34, passing by the Wessington Springs tank with the first stop at Mid Dakota’s Miller office. Following that, the tour will head to the water treatment plant near Pierre. Attendees will enjoy lunch then take a tour of the plant.

On the return trip, the bus will stop at the Blunt Booster Station for a tour then move on to the Highmore tanks. The tour then will make one final stop at the Miller headquarters before heading back to Wessington Springs with arrival set for 6 p.m.
