Last Thursday on their home course in Wessington Springs, the Spartans claimed victory in a seven-team golf meet with a total score of 215. Following with 239, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton secured second place, while Ethan took third with 240. The top five positions were claimed by Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at 258 and Doland at 264.
Individual accolades went to Blake Larson, who clinched top honors with an impressive round of 69. JD Thompson and Heyns Bothma secured second and third positions, respectively, with scores of 73 each. Blake Miller contributed to Wessington Springs’ success, also with a score of 73, earning him fourth place overall, while Luke Larson secured fifth place with a score of 71. Brock Krueger had a noteworthy 77 for the Spartans.
In the girls’ division, Mt. Vernon/ Plankinton claimed the team title with a score of 297. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket followed closely behind with 314 strokes, securing second place, while Ethan took third with 325 strokes.
Dell Rapids St. Mary Invite
With four finishers in the top ten at the St. Mary Invitational held at the Rocky Run Golf Course on Tuesday, April 23 in Dell Rapids, the Spartans claimed the title with a score of 251. Hanson follwed in second with 263 and Chester was third at 274.
Blake Larson led the pack with his four-over round of 75. Blake Miller shot 85 for fifth, Brock Krueger tied for sixth with 87 and Luke Larson tied for eighth with 89.
The next home meet for the Spartans is Friday, May 3 at the Springs Country Club, Tee off is at 10 a.m. and the community is welcome and encouraged to watch the Spartans in action.
