Municipal elections for trustee and council board positions will be held Tuesday, April 9 in Alpena and in Wessington Springs Ward 3. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The polling place for Alpena is the Alpena Community Center with the polling place for Wessington Springs designated as the Jerauld County Ag Building.
In Alpena, with four petitions filed for two trustee positions (three-year term), candidates are comprised of Andrew Small, Terry Nedved, Daniel Jurgens and Carmen Muilenburg.
In the City of Wessington Springs, the only election will be held in Ward 3 for the two-year council position between Natasha Waters and Patrick Fastnacht.
For Wessington Springs Mayor, Ryan Knipfer filed the sole petition, as did Megan Forrest for Ward 1 and Eva Voorhees for the Ward 3 one-year position. No petitions were filed in Ward 2.
On the school board side of things, only two petitions were filed for the two vacant positions. Eugene A. Gaikowski and Jonathan Arhart.
