Darleen wrote her news Monday morning and Delia got it later in the forenoon. It was April Fool’s Day!

Darleen enjoyed the roast beef dinner from the Manor kitchen. It snowed most of the day!

Tuesday, we had sunshine! Darleen enjoyed the pork dinner and cake from the Manor kitchen. Darleen got birthday cards ready to send to six family members. Darleen’s daughter Cindy Zenk of Webster attended a meeting in Huron for work. She came to visit Dar about 6 p.m. and brought supper of a cheeseburger, potato salad and angel food cake with strawberries. She drove home to Webster.

Darleen Higgins was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee on Wednesday. She served mini donuts and Lorraine Schultz shared her Girl Scout cookies. Kathy Larson made the coffee. Others enjoying the food and fellowship were Vera Salter, Judy Baumgart, Joyce Mees and Darleen Cuppy.

Cards were played in the south dining room at 2 p.m. Enjoying the afternoon were Joyce Mees, Darleen Higgins, Doris Deneke, Darleen Cuppy, Lyle Pawlowski, Shirley Bender, Marilyn Robbins and Lynette Marken. Marilyn Robbins served coffee and delicious cinnamon sugar and cream cheese bread sticks.

Thursday Darleen Cuppy rode the bus to Angie Mentzer’s for a 10:30 appointment. Darleen enjoyed the chicken fried steak dinner from the Senior Center. Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins play the Cleveland Indians in the afternoon. The Twins lost 2-4.

Friday Darleen enjoyed the chicken noodle hot dish and fruit cobbler from the Manor kitchen. Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins play the Cleveland Indians; the Twins lost again 2-4.

Saturday Darleen enjoyed the scalloped potatoes and ham, mixed vegetables and peach sauce. Saturday was the Wessington Springs High School Prom. Darleen’s grandson Brock Krueger and his date Dakota Larson stopped in and had Mike Krueger take a picture of us. Brock had a colorful tuxedo and Dakota had a beautiful orange gown and Grandma Dar wore a sweatshirt and slacks! Darleen enjoyed watching the Grand March on TV in the evening. The couples all looked so beautiful. Becky Krueger did a great job announcing each couple.

Sunday Darleen Cuppy, Elaine Roetman and Rochelle Witte rode the bus to the Methodist Church. Lisa Edwards played a beautiful prelude. Pastor Kristine Van Gorp gave a welcome and prayer. We sang “Immortal Incredible God Only Wise.” Gerald Kraft gave several announcements, joys and concerns. We all said the Lord’s Prayer. The Offering was taken. It was great to have so many children in church! The C.O.W club did some special reading and music. Randy Burnison had the children’s message. Pastor Kristine Van Gorp gave the sermon “What’s the Point?”

We closed with the hymn “Just as I am.”

Darleen enjoyed the pork roast dinner and peach pie from the Manor kitchen. At 2 p.m. Rhonda LePage drove the Springs Area Bus to the Senior Center. Riding with her were Darleen Cuppy, Marilyn Robbins, Marlys Shryock and Lyle Pawlowski. We enjoyed playing bingo with a ten cent per card donation. Lyle Pawlowski called the numbers.

A large group attended. After bingo Marla Ness with help from Mette Ness served baked potatoes with several different toppings and an assortment of delicious cookies and bars. It was a free-will donation. Many other people came after bingo to enjoy the supper. Darleen hasn’t heard the amount donated to help with expenses at the Senior Center.

“Don’t wait for people to be kind, show them how.”
