Old Shultz home was a “twin” to the Fransen house next to the Library

True Dakotan reader Bob Shultz sent this wonderful old picture of a Wessington Springs home. This is the “twin” to the house next to the Wessington Springs library (Fransen home) that was featured in the True Dakotan a few months ago. The house above was located on 10 St., a block west of College Ave. Caroline and Peter H. Shultz had recently moved there from their homestead in
Viola Township*. Peter Shultz stands atop the stairs in the photo above, and then, from left, are his wife Caroline (Hildebrandt), oldest daughter Lydia (Mrs. Arthur Hazard), daughters Wilhelmena (Mrs. August Schultz) and Ellen. Children are, from left, Milo, Viola**, Ralph and Carl. The last four are unknown. The picture was taken around 1905-1906. The house is no longer standing.

*6th entry Twsp 106-64, Nov. 6, 1881; **Viola will be 107 next March 1.
