Mrs. Alta Beckman has adopted the Jerauld County Pioneer Museum for the month of October. Although you would never know by looking at her, Alta has already had her 99th birthday and she probably is a better authority on the past than many of those who profess to be historians. She has lived in Jerauld County all of her life, most of her time on a farm. She has seen all of the changes in farm life from farm wives staying home to raise a family, with cows to milk, gardening and chores, to modern farm wives working at a job in town helping to pay for the large acreages and big machinery of today’s farms.
