MARY GORHING DISPLAYS A PLAQUE SHE RECEIVED for being named South Dakota Science Teacher of the Year by the state Science Association. Mary has been a teacher in the Wessington Springs school district for the past 17 years. Prior to that she taught in Alpena and Huron schools. She plans to retire at the end of the 2010 school year.

Congratulations to Mary. She has spent a career as an outstanding science teacher. I first knew Mary as she taught in Huron and our paths continue to cross.
Currently Mary and I both work with Learning Power students who take Advanced Placement courses online. Mary is an e-mentor for students and helps them prepare for success in an online learning environment. Mary is an e-mentor along with her full time teaching responsibilities.
