COMBINES, GRAIN CARTS and trucks were scurrying all over the area last week as a break in the weather got the soybeans and corn crop harvest into full swing. A full week of sunshine helped dry up the mud and the seed moisture content. Much of the crop still needs to be dried or put into drying bins but continued sunshine will help remedy that. The elevators at Springs, Lane, and Alpena had trucks lined up waiting to dump over the past week. Corn prices could be better, but it is a bumper crop that could set some records in the area.
