HOWARD AND DAR CUPPY, as most everyone knows, are the Wessington Springs Owls baseball team’s biggest boosters. But did you know that they just could be the biggest Minnesota Twins boosters in Jerauld County as well? They never miss a game via radio or television and they have been known to go to games in the Twin Cities over the years. Their most memorable was games 6 and 7 of the 1987 World Series when the twins took home a world championship. A “Homer Hanky” and the tickets are on a prominent wall framed for everyone to see in their home in Wessington Springs.

And now they can boast their names enshrined on the Twins Tradition Wall at the new Target Field in Minneapolis. The Cuppy’s daughter, Connie Theurer, who lives in the Twin Cities, did them the honor and they recently received a Certificate of Recognition and a glass stand etched with their names as they appear on the wall: “Howard & Darleen Cuppy” and a Twins logo.

It’s hard for the Cuppy’s to get to the Twins games anymore due to Howard’s respiratory problems, but they still follow the team religiously. And they will try to still make it to all of the Owls home games. Howard and Dar are pictured holding their certificate and stand above with a picture of the 1987 World Series tickets and “Homer Hanky” above/left.
