Bald eagles make Jerauld County their feeding ground this winter

SEVERAL BALD EAGLES have made Jerauld County a feeding ground this winter. The one above shown both in flight and perched in a tree was spotted along Firesteel Valley near the old 34-281 junction. Several have also been reported in the Alpena area over the past weeks. The raptors feed on small game such as rabbits, field mice and fish. They also have been known to feed on ducks, geese, and pheasants. The birds are the American symbol and are under federal protection.
