Springs barrel raceer Amy Schimke was featured on a recent episode of “Women’s Pro Rodeo Today”, a Sunday morning show (8:30 a.m.) on the cable/satellite television RFD channel.
Schimke has been successful while competing on the national level against America’s best barrel racers. The program featured her while she competed at the National WPRA finals in Tulsa, OK., where she and her horse, “One Sharp Floozie” finished seventh. She was the only one featured that had a time of under 16 seconds in the event.
Amy was also interviewed in the “Rising Star” segment of the show. A story about Amy appeared in the True Dakotan in December.
The community can be proud of Amy, who competes at the highest level in her sport. She is the daughter of Jean Shultz and Dale Schimke, both of Wessington Springs.
