Saturday, July 3rd
7:00 a.m. Avera / Chamber Run & Walk for Wellness – Register right up until race/walk times
8:00 a.m. Avera Weskota 5K Run – in the City Park-
The fee to run is $12 which includes a t-shirt & your eligibility for trophies.
9:00 a.m . Avera Weskota 1.5 Mile Walk – in the City Park -There is no fee to walk / $10 for T-shirts
11:00 a.m. Woonsocket Parade – ‘Remember When…’Registration begins at 9 am (old Library).
1:00 p.m. Register for the Wessington Springs Parade- Get your Maps for lining up (1905 Opera House – Dakota Ave. S)
2:00 p.m Wessington Springs Parade – “Come show off your colors!” Some of the prize categories: Old & new vehicles, horses and buggies, bi & tri wheeled fun, patriotic, and Most ‘pride’ or spirit for your community. Be creative and have fun while you prepare your floats for the 2010 festivities!!!!! 3:00 p.m. Or after the parade: Annual Alumni Association Social & Business Meeting.Elementary school gymnasium. There will be a parade float (so if you’re creative and want to help, contact Verla Barber).
3:30 p.m. Variety Show features local talent. 1905 Opera House. Sponsored by Springs Area Bus with proceeds going back to their programming.9:30 p.m.
Annual Fireman’s Ball Dance Featuring: The Company Cowboys, and Dustin Evans & the Good Times Band. Between Dakota, and Wallace Ave., on Main St. Concessions available (please don’t bring your own food or drink). Watch your mail box for tickets, or pay at the door.
Sunday, July 4th
*** Traditionally, there has been a community church service in the park. However, this year each denomination is holding services in their own facilities. Please read the True Dakotan for times and places of worship.
10:00 a.m. Barrel Racing 4-H Rodeo Grounds (Off 12th St.) For more contact Jean Shultz 539-9661 or 539-1585 Sponsored by 4-H Horse
2:00 p.m. Co-ed Softball Game (all ages). Anyone interested in playing, please show up at the 4H softball field (on 2nd St. by the 4H building) around 1:30 pm. We’ll play till around 4:00 p.m.
4:30 p.m. Turtle Races (youth, ages 12 & under). Weskota Manor Avera - Parking Lot. Prizes will be awarded
7:00 p.m. Owls Baseball Game David Jost Memorial Field (WS City Park). Tickets may be purchased at the gate. Concessions Sponsored by Springs Area Community Club with proceeds going back into our summer youth programming
Dusk Fireworks From Lookout Hill, above WS City Park – Best locations to view them are from the American Legion parking lot and the city park. Co-sponsored by WS Volunteer Fire Department and WS Chamber of Commerce.
