American Bank & Trust team wins 2010 title, Springs Auto team won a year ago

A Wessington Springs team has captured first place in the state ladies’ bowling tournament for the second consecutive year. A team from American Bank & Truck captured top honors at the 2010 event. The Springs Auto bowling team captured the 2009 title. One of the ladies on this year’s title team was a surprise member. Kendra Brandenburg bowled in place of Bernice Burg, who at the last moment was unable to compete. Another key member of the squad, Stephanie Rostad bowled ‘way above her average’ the whole tournament. Also bowling and turning in good scores were Patsy Sorben and Gloria Vavra. The American Bank & Trust team, shown above, from left, Patsy Sorben, Kendra Brandenburg, Gloria Vavra and Stephanie Rostad, rolled a 2.613 in the team handicapped division. The second place team finished just 18 pins behind. Tom Hoefert, who lives north of Wessington Springs, was a member of the Sportsman’s Pub bowling team from White Lake that won the 2010 state open team event in Aberdeen.
