Wessington Springs High School standout Kole Kopfmann was named to the Class 9AA All-state football team for the 2009 season.
Kopfmann, a junior from Alpena, was selected as the all-state punter on the elite team.
An outstanding punter with a 35-yard average for the Wessington Springs/Woonsocket Blackhawks, his other credentials helped him achieve the honor. He rushed for 519 yards and five touchdowns during the season. He also had 292 yards receiving on 15 pass receptions with two touchdowns.
Defensively, he had 61 solo tackles and 70 assisted tackles.
Kopfmann was also a member of the Mid-Dakota All-conference team along with junior teammates Ty
Kenobbie and Eric Warkenthien (Woonsocket) and senior Collin Baumgart.
Honorable mention Mid-Dakota players included Trevor Kenobbie, a sophomore.
Kopfmann, Ty Kenobbie, Warkenthien and Baumgart were also first team 281 All-conference players. Honorable mention players for the Blackhawks were Trevor Kenobbie and senior Jedd Schlicht (Woonsocket).
