UNUSUAL WINTER WEATHER brought around .40 of an inch of rain and temperatures up to the 50’s made the area creeks run around Jerauld County last week. Snow melt and rain fed the South Gulch creek (above) on the south edge of Wessington Springs. The water flows into Firesteel Creek, about four miles away, and off to Mitchell and the James River. Smith Creek, in west/central Jerauld County was also flowing at a good pace as well as Crow Creek along the Jerauld/Buffalo County line. The rain and snow melt combination caused a few problems around town as well, running water into basements.
