Vintage wedding gowns on display at Heritage Center

A display of vintage wedding dresses worn by Jerauld County women opened a two-week run at the Heritage Center in Wessington Springs on Mother’s Day. Some of the dresses are simple, some are elegant. Some were worn by World War II brides, some by settlers and pioneers, others a little more recently, like Vinetta Shonley’s gorgeous dress from the 1940s.

There is no charge to see the display, but Jerauld County Heritage Center in Wessington Springs happily accepts your donations as a means of keeping this valuable, non-profit museum running for every one. The exhib is open during regular hours at the Heritage Center.Vinetta Shonley's wedding dress (left) is one of the highlights of the vintage wedding dress exhibit that is currently on display in the Jerauld County Heritage Center in Wessington Springs. Many other gowns --some of which can be seen in the picture-- are also on display.
