Storm on the horizon

- A FUNNEL CLOUD dips down out of the edge of a giant storm cell last Tuesday afternoon southwest of Wessington Springs. The storm had built up in Buffalo County and headed southeast toward the Chamberlain area. The storm eventually dumped large hail and lots of rain in areas along Brule and Aurora Counties. The weather service issued a tornado warning along its path as funnel clouds were spotted. No tornado damage was reported. Storm cells have become common in the evenings in the area, we can only hope they hold off now as the small grain harvest begins this week.
