SNOW IS PILED UP along most of the country roads in the Jerauld County area this winter. This one is located two miles east of Springs along “Whisky Road”. The road was once the route of Highway 34 that made its way through Wessington Springs and up the “old grade”. The road got its nickname during the “dry” years in Wessington Springs. Local citizens drove the road to Lane where there was a liquor store, returning home with their bottle on “Whiskey Road.”
