Fallie Beers still volunteers with her musical talents

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD her beautiful piano music and didn’t even realize it. Fallie Beers, a long-time Springs area musician, still plays for the Springs Area Community Club every Tuesday. The meetings in the back room of the Springs Inn feature a few spirited songs to start things off. Fallie’s piano music and the men and women of the club’s voices are also enjoyed by the people eating in the other room. The songs many times reflect the weather, season or holiday. Fallie volunteers her time and is happy to be a part of it. She also shares her musical talents twice a month at Weskota Manor Avera.

Fallie and her music go back nearly 50 years in the area. She taught many young people piano lessons between 1963 and 1990. She was a fixture at the piano first at Templeton Church and then the United Church of Christ before retiring last year. But not before she played for countless services, weddings and funerals.

Fallie turns 84 this week on Wednesday, May 19. You will hear her perform the day before at the SACC meeting. We’re looking forward to listening in and hopefully for many years to come.

Fallie, along with a hand full of other ladies in the Springs area taught a great number of students through the years. Bill and I were both her students for a number of years. After all with a piano teacher as our mother…. At 80+ years she still substitute plays for First UCC and Templeton, although on fewer and fewer occassions. In her apartment at Weskota she even has her organ on which to practice.
