MR. FARMALL Hub Kieser brings his Super M down the parade route, one of the many vintage tractors in the annual Fourth of July parade last weekend. Hub runs a repair shop near the north end of Springs where he works on most anything with wheels but will always have a soft spot in his heart for the Farmalls he works on.

LLOYD KRAFT and his wife Margaret make their way down the parade route in a 1929 Chevrolet truck that was purchased new in 1929 by Lloyd’s father, the late Immanuel Kraft. The parade was held Saturday, July 3 in Wessington Springs. They were also celebrating Margaret’s Fourth of July birthday which was going to be observed the following day. The truck is a common and favorite entry in local parades.

MANY AREA PEOPLE as well as visitors enjoyed root beer floats and sundaes being sold by the United Methodist Church members before and after the July 3rd parade. Some of the group chats as they enjoy their cool treats in front of Mettler’s Locker and the Senior Citizen Center.

PETE BULT “ME AND OLD RED AIN’T AS GOOD AS WE USED TO BE”, TOOK home first prize for most humorous with his old Massey Harris tractor and hay buck with a sign that reads “Me and Old Red ain’t as good as we use to be.” There are probably a lot of miles on both of them.

"Dayle Winter drives while Jack Ferguson "plays" the calliape" THE SPRINGS UNIT of the James Valley Fire Crew are a fixture at most all of the local parades. They are shown above in their vintage fire engine equipped with calliope at the Fourth of July parade held Saturday. The Huron crew also made an appearance.

DR. TOM DEAN, a long-time local physician and cancer survivor lends his support to the Relay for Life parade entry last Saturday. The Relay for Life will be held August 14 at the Springs ball park.

A GUST OF WIND interrupted the view of the Fourth of July parade for the Cecil and Doris Deneke family. An upturned umbrella is pictured with Marsha Deneke and Dusty Smith from Gillette, WY who was visiting across the street at the Duke Wenzel home as they help keep it from blowing away. Cecil is pictured at right.

LOCAL RACE CAR driver, Springs Mayor, and county highway superintendent Greg Vavra drives his #0 race car down the Fourth of July weekend parade route. You can see him racing at the State Fair speedway most any weekend.
