The Wessington Springs Senior Citizen’s Center had a meeting on April 8, 2024. On April 7, bingo and a baked potato supper were enjoyed by many members of the community. The special events committee will be hosting bingo and a meal the first Sunday of every month with some exceptions. Since Festival of Tables is being held on May 4 there will not be bingo on May 5. The next bingo is planned for Sunday, June 2 from 2-4 p.m. with supper following from 4-6 p.m.
The first Thursday of every month cards and games will be played after the meal at 12:45 p.m.
The 2024 Festival of Tables will be held May 4 with a viewing of tables starting at 10:30 a.m. followed by a meal of chef salad, dinner rolls and dessert. After the meal the table decorators will introduce themselves and tell us about their decorations on their tables. There are twelve tables decorated in a variety of themes by community members. Dunham Historical Society will do a presentation of extension club articles donated to the museum. They will also explain all the changes in the museum since the move to their new building. Throughout the program, a silent auction of May baskets will be open until right before 1 p.m. to end the event. Tickets may be purchased for $12 per person by contacting Sharon DiCarlo, Marilyn Robbins or Delia Atkinson.
We are in need of donations of May baskets for the silent auction, if you would like to donate an item, please contact the above members or the Senior Center. The next Senior Citizen’s Meeting will be May 12 at 12:30 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings and bring suggestions on what kind of activities you want your Senior Citizen’s Center to provide for you. Membership is $20 per person per year.
Meals are served Monday through Friday at noon and cost $5 for seniors 60 years of age or older, $8 for younger patrons, everyone welcome. Menus are available at the Senior Center or printed each week in True Dakotan and online at www.truedakotan. com under the “Lifestyle” section.
