OBITUARY

 

RICHARD HADDORFF

 Richard Haddorff 61 of Sioux Falls died Tuesday evening June 29, 2010 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services were Friday, July 2, at the United Methodist Church in Wessington Springs with Rev. Jan Price officiating. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery with military.

Richard Alan Haddorff was born on December 15, 1948 at Wessington Springs, SD to Richard and DeLoris (Voigt) Haddorff. He attended schools in Wessington Springs graduating in 1967.

After attending General Beadle College at Madison, SD he joined the US Navy and received his training at San Diego, CA. Rich was injured while in the service and later resided in veteran’s care centers in South Dakota, Colorado and Kansas.

His religious training was at the United Methodist Church in Wessington Springs. Rick always had a positive attitude and spoke kindly to and about his friends, family and acquaintances talking about their best qualities.

Grateful for having shared his life is his mother and stepfather DeLoris and Harry Poorman of Las Vegas, NE, three sisters Micalyne Mentzer of Sioux Falls, SD, Marya Cobb, of San Jose, CA, and Julie Garcia and her husband Ernest of Bellingham, WA; his brother Steven and his wife Marilynn of Sioux Falls, SD; his nieces and nephews Sonja (Chad) Ohlrogge, Jeffery Mentzer, Hilary Haddorff, all of Sioux Falls, Aaron (Kristen) Haddorff of St. Paul, MN, Elizabeth Cobb, Brittany Cobb both of San Jose, CA, and Tashina Garcia of Bellingham, WA; his great nieces and nephews Brandon and Sophie Ohlrogge, Laine, Mia and Devyn Mentzer; his stepmother Emma Jane Haddorff of Ft. Collins, Colo. and five step-brothers and sisters Robert, Kathy, Donald, Jeannie and Joyce.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard Ward Haddorff in 1987 and a niece Michelle Mentzer in 2005.
