Henry Junior Schraeder, 82, of Cheyenne, WY passed away peacefully at his home Nov. 25 with his beloved son by his side. His funeral service and burial with Pastor Daniel DeBruyn officiating and the American Legion Honor Guard doing the military honors was Nov 30 at Mountain View Memorial Park in Cheyenne, WY.
Schraeder was born Oct. 15, 1927 to Henry & Esther (Hein) Schraeder in Jerauld County, SD. He served his country in the Marines and was involved in the liberation of US troops in Guam at the end of WWII. After the Marines, Schraeder lived in AR, SD and eventually moved to CA where he worked for the US government as a boiler operator. In 1979 he transferred to Cheyenne, WY to the VA Hospital continuing to work as a boiler operator until he retired in 1987. Schraeder’s retirement allowed him time to travel and spend time with his son. He had a great passion for enjoying the outdoors, he loved to hunt and fish as well as camping. He was mother nature’s biggest fan and saw beauty in just about everything. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Post #4343.
Schraeder is survived by his son, Paul Henry of Cheyenne, whom he raised since age 2, Paul’s daughter Grayson Lynn whom he adored very much; his daughter Sherlyn Jean Anderson of Fort Collins, CO; her three children, Joshua, Zachary and Holley and her 2 grandchildren; four brothers, Ronald, Merle, Orval and L. Russell; ten sisters, Lydia, Josephine, Opal, Marylin, Sylvia, Gloria, Sharon, Luana, Cheryl and Susan.
Schraeder was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Eugene, and an infant sister, Maxine.
