Helen Nelson 87 of Wessington Springs died early Thursday morning Oct. 1, 2009 at the Weskota Manor/ Avera Health. A scripture service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday Oct.3rd, 2009 at the Basham Funeral Home with Msgr. Edward Burian officiating. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 am until time of service.
Helen Fox was born on December 7, 1921 at Wessington Springs, SD to John and Halie (Williams) Fox.
She attended school at Wessington Springs and graduated from Wessington Springs High School and then attended the Wessington Springs Junior College.
Helen was married to Milton Nelson in 1954 in Aberdeen. She lived in various communities in Central South Dakota while were husband was a teacher, principal and superintendent. Following his retirement they moved in Wessington Springs in 1984.
Helen is survived by her son Ted and his wife Linda of Jacksonville, FL, a daughter Rebecca Joyce Nelson of Alaska; three sisters Marjorie Tumbleson of Fairmont, MN, Patricia Saffel of Pierre, SD and Ruth Motrca.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Milton.
