Georgia Voorhees 92 of Wessington Springs died late Friday evening July 16 at the Avera Weskota Memorial Medical Center in Wessington Springs. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday July 21 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fr. Jim Friedrich officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 6-8 with the family present at that time. A scripture service will be held at 7:30 pm.
Georgia Schaller was born on May 21, 1918 to George and Lucy (Romig) Schaller near Presho, SD.
On June 21, 1936 Georgia was united in marriage to Kenneth Voorhees in Wessington Springs, SD. Georgia worked in various, business in Wessington Springs.
She is survived by her children Laural Voorhees and his wife Janet of Woonsocket, SD, Kathryn Walton and her husband Gary of Concordia, KS, Kenneth Voorhees and his wife Lynn of Norfork, VA, Roger Voorhees and his wife LeAnne of Huron, SD, Lester Voorhees and his wife Eva of Mitchell, SD, Jerry Voorhees and his friend Kathy of Wessington Springs, SD and Darla Kogel of Wessington Springs, SD, 22 grandchildren, Corina, David, Teresa, Lisa, Brian, Charlotte, Kenneth C, Naomi, Nick, Scott, Tom, Geoff, Don, Max, Mike, Michelle, Stacy, Josh, Charlene, Brandon, Crystal, and Tanya, 34 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth 3 sons June, Udell and James, 1 brother, 4 sisters, and a son-in-law Stephen Kogel.
