OBITUARY

Duane D. Meyer

Duane D. Meyer 78, Hill City died Friday Feb. 5, 2009, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

His funeral was Feb. 10 at the Hill City High School Theatre with Deacon Pat Coy officiating. Burial was at Hill City Community Cemetery. Serenity Springs Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Duane O. Meyer was born November 21, 1930 to Herman and Agnes (Hein) Meyer at Lane, SD. He attended Meyer School.

He married Ardis Thompson June 1, 1952 they farmed south of Lane until 1965 when they moved to Hill City. He operated a garbage route, repair shop, school bus service and worked for the Forest Service at Hill City. He enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors.

He is survived by his wife Ardis, four daughters, Carol Maxfield, Worthing, Delores Hansen, Elko, Nev., Janell Quenser and Tamie Zinda, both of Hill City; a son Dean, Las Vegas, Nev. a sister Ethel Klitzke, Wessington Springs; 17 grandchildren: 50 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren..

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Alvin.
