Dorothy M. Jenner 89 of Wessington Springs died Friday afternoon December 4, 2009 at the SunQuest Health Care Center in Huron, SD.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday December 8, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Wessington Springs with Pastor Jan Price officiating. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Dorothy Mae Richert was on May 20, 1920 to George D. and Carrrie (Saville) Richert in the farm home north of Woonsocket, SD. At the age of one year she moved with her family to a farm north of Lane. At age six the family moved to a farm south of Lane. She attended Lane Consolidated School and graduated as salutatorian with the high school class of 1938.
On April 13, 1941 she married Emil Jenner at the Methodist Church in Lane, SD. They farmed in the Lane and Wessington Springs area and moved to Wessington Springs in 1975.
Dorothy worked at Weskota Manor in the kitchen for several years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, the Senior Center, the Dunham Historical Society, the Good Neighbor extension club, Sing-Sew extension club, National Faramers Organization, and the Farmers Union.
She leaves to mourn her passing three children, Lorene (James) Cavigielli of Huron, Veral (Judy) Jenner of Belton, MO, Diane (Robert) Albertson of Cedar Rapids, IA, and grandchildren Laurie (Randy) McMillan, Christopher Wahl, Stacy Wahl (Dean Seanor), Tony (Bridget) Jenner, Michelle Jenner, Thomas (Veronica) Jenner, Glen Shere, David (Joanna) Shere, and great grandchildren Amanda McMillan and Alexanderia, Bryant and Joseph Jenner.
Preceding her in death were her husband Emil, a son-in-law LeRoy E. Wahl, her parents, four half brothers Edward G. (Fern) Richert, George C. (Della) Ellsworth, Leslie B. (Lucy) Ellsworth, Dale S. (Katherine) Ellsworth, and a half-sister Beryl Richert Siefken (Herman).
