DONALD WERLY
Donald E. Werly 73 of Wessington Springs died early Saturday morning March 13, 2010 at Avera Weskota Memorial Medical Center in Wessington Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday March 17, 2010 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Rev. John Paulson officiating. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 5-8 and on Wednesday one hour, prior to the service. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM.
Donald Werly was born on April 23, 1936 at Lawrence, Kansas to John and Hilda Werly.
He grew up and attended school in Lemmon, SD and graduated from Lemmon High School in 1954.
On June 15, 1958 Don was united in marriage to Phyllis Thompson in Lemmon, SD. From there they moved to Mitchell and settled down in Wessington Springs in 1963.
He worked for Fullerton Lumber Yard until 1983 when he purchased it and renamed it Springs Building Center. He sold it in 1995 and went to work for UBC Pro Builders in Huron, SD up until the time of his illness.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs.
He, is survived by his wife Phyllis of Wessington Springs, a daughter Donna Worth and her husband Tom of Woonsocket, a granddaughter Kylie and her husband Rasheed Hodge Sr. of Brandon, SD two great grandchildren Dreavin and Keanin Hodge, one step great grandchild Rasheed Hodge Jr. one brother-in-law Roger and his wife Deb of Shakopee, MN, and two nieces Alex and Megan.
He was, preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Debbie.
