Clair L. Tiede

clair tiede obitClair L. Tiede, age 80, of 2510 Russet Dr. Plover, WI. died early Friday morning, Sept. 11, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born Jan. 25, 1929 in Wessington Springs, the son of the late Edward and Emelia (Koenig) Tiede.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota State College in Brookings. He graduated from Wessington Springs High School.

His marriage to Dorothy Mullen took place on April 1, 1950 in South Dakota.

Clair was employed at Fairbanks-Morse in Beloit, WI. While employed there he went to Spain and worked with the Spanish Air Force installing Communication Towers. He worked at Werner Electric in South Beloit and then Howard Industries in Racine. He was Vice President of WSM in Union Grove. Clair retired in 1990.

Following retirement, he was an Engineer/Consultant for Beere Medical & Beere Precision. He designed and patented medical instruments.

He was a self-taught vocal musician and arranger of barber shop and Christian Music. While growing up and living in Wessington Springs he was well known for his vocal talents with the community men’s barbershop chorus and various quartets.

He directed choruses and sang lead in his barber shop quartet. He provided vocal music for his wife’s ministry for eight years.

Clair was an avid fisherman, hunter and inventor. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

A memorial in his name will be established at a later date.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, two daughters, Peggy (William) McDowell of Tomahawk and Susan Mawbey of Stevens Point. 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandsons, one brother, Arlo (Della) Tiede of Washington.

He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Service was at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Stevens Point. Pastor Bruce Pangborn officiating. Burial was in Plover Cemetery.
