Graveside services for Lyle Dean “Buzz” Knigge were held Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Mount Pisgah Cemetery. A Memorial Service followed at The Eagles Lodge.
Mr. Knigge, age 65, of Gillette, Wyoming died Thursday, Sept.24, 2009 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital after a longtime battle with alcoholism.
Buzz was born a fraternal twin on April 24, 1944 in Mitchell, SD. He was raised on a farm with 9 brothers and sisters near Wessington Springs, South Dakota.
Buzz attended rural schools in South Dakota through the 8th grade. Buzz moved to Gillette in 1963, to work in the oilfield with his brothers. In 1970, he started his own water trucking business, Buzz’s Water Service. He continued to work in the oilfield with KG Construction and Wood Trucking. In 1986, he again owned his own business, Buzz’s Salvage and Recycling. In recent years he contracted out to Jim’s Water Service. Buzz found love many times in which he fathered seven children.
Buzz is survived by his children: Dean Knigge, Lisa Knigge, Scott Knigge all of Gillette, Wyoming, Damon Knigge of Casper, Wyoming, Jason (Melissa) Paine of Mermaid Beach, Australia, and Melissa (Chad) Gideon of Rozet, Wyoming; 3 sisters: Elaine Thomas of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, Donna Naser of Pappillion, Nebraska, and Deana Dilley of Watertown, South Dakota; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Lois Naser; his parents, John and Alice (Stone) Knigge; 5 brothers: Gordy, Si, Rollie, Wayne, Mel; and one grandchild, David John Knigge.
