Color Guards will march amid the volleys of gunfire as area veterans, both living and past, will be honored by Memorial Day programs on Monday, May 28.
Memorial Day services are planned at several locations over the upcoming holiday.
Alpena
Services will be held at the Community Center in Alpena on Monday, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Following the program a special service will be held at the cemetery (weather permitting) A dinner will be enjoyed after the cemetery program. Special music will be presented by the Alpena Community Chorus and the Memorial Day speaker will be SD Senator Tom Hansen, Huron.
Wessington Springs
Wessington Springs elementary principal Jason Kolousek will be the featured speaker at Memorial Day services at Prospect Hill Cemetery on Memorial Day. The prgram begins at 11:00 p.m. A pot luck dinner will be held at the American Legion Hall following the program.
Hope Cemetery
Memorial Day services will be held Monday, May 28 at Hope Cemetery, west of Wessington Springs. The program begins at 10:00 a.m. Becky Leslie will be the speaker.
Gann Valley
Memorial Day services at Gann Valley will be held on Monday, May 28. The American Legion will post the colors at 9:30 a.m. at Duncan Cemetery. At 10:30 a.m. a program will be held at the Gann Valley Legion Hall. Jim Anderson will be the speaker and the Legion will post the colors at Spring Hill Cemetery following the program. A noon pot luck dinner at the Gann Valley Legion Hall will be held with the American Legion Auxiliary furnishing dinnerware and drinks.
