Anne Hathaway Cottage Receives Roof Repair In The Nick of Time

Thanks to a handful of dedicated volunteers, Anne Hathaway Cottage at Shakespeare Garden in Wessington Springs received vital roof repairs less than 24 hours before the area received 1.38 inches of rain. Wind damage had caused an area of the water reed thatching to leave the roof exposed, which would have resulted in damage to the interior.

Although the volunteer roof repairers, made up of Wessington Springs residents Joel and Linda Boschee and Tom and Kathy Dean, admit they possess nowhere near the skill of master thatcher Cecil White who thatched the roof in 1995 and 2019, the work prevented potentially major water damage.
