Dr. Dean at the Old Settler’s Picnic

Dr. Roscoe E. Dean attended the 2002 Jerauld County Old Settler's Picnic. The beloved old doctor lived until 2009 after tending to the county's ailing for more than 50 years. He was a member of the South Dakota Hall of Fame.

Country western singer/songwriter Kyle (Fagerhaug) Evans died in a July-2001 motorcycle accident. He was inducted into the SD Hall of Fame prior to his death.

Gov. Robert Vessey, governor of South Dakota early in the last century, lived in this Wessington Springs home. It is now owned by Gail and Susan (Dean) Arnott. It's beautiful. -Duke Wenzel 2002

George Pflaum’s place

The late George Pflaum plays his accordian at his annual birthday party at Crow Lake. He blew the bellows out of his old accordian, playing between sets at Denise Wenzel's wedding dance at the Prairie Lounge, so his friends went together and bought him a really nice new one. He wasn't especially good, but boy, he loved playing! Duke Wenzel 2002
