OBITUARY
DONALD THOMPSON
Donald B. Thompson 82 of Wessington Springs died Friday evening March 23 at the Firesteel Nursing Home in Mitchell. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday March 27 at the Foothills Bible Fellowship Church in Wessington Springs with Rev. Don Grubb officiating. Burial will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery at Wessington Springs with military rites by the Wessington Springs American Legion.
Donald Bennett Thompson was born December 21st, 1929, to Helen (Reeves) Thompson and R. Bennett Thompson. He was educated in Wessington Springs and graduated from high school there.

Charles K. Steele
Mar. 15, 1933 – Mar. 12, 2012
Charles K. (Buddy) Steele, 78, of Black Hawk passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 at his residence.
He grew up in the Wessington Springs area.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Steele of Sundance, WY and Thomas Steele of Black Hawk, 1 daughter, Helen Welch of Reno, NV, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
Charles served in the US Army.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Kirk Funeral Home, Rapid City, with Pastor Dave Jorgenson officiating.

Joyce Krueger
Joyce Eldene Krueger, age 80, of Rural Alpena, died December 22, 2011 in Knapp Hospital, Weslaco, TX.
Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, in Wessington Springs with Reverend John Paulson officiating.
Lunch will follow at the church and a graveside service will be held at 1:15 p.m. at the Restlawn Memory Gardens, 21453 SD Hwy 37 south of Huron.
Joyce was born May 25, 1931 in Hugoton, KS to William Robert and Effie (Gooch) McGehee.

ROSEMARY BOYD
Rosemary Boyd, 66, of Huron and formerly of Wessington Springs died Saturday evening, March 10, 2012 at her son’s home in Vermillion. Her memorial service was held at the Basham Funeral Chapel in Wessington Springs with Rev. Don Grubb officiating. Inurnment was in the Hope Cemetery.
Rosemary was born on July 19, 1945 at Sisseton, SD to Walter and Dorothy (Julius) Kleindl.
She married John Lindula on June 26, 1967.
Rosemary held many positions as a mother, grandmother, and caretaker. She enjoyed her self employed job selling homemade crafts and soap. She also made sure her family got to enjoy her garden vegetables by canning them for everyone to enjoy.

Franklin Fite
Franklin Fite, age 91, died Tuesday, December 22, 2011 in the Golden Living Center in Clark, SD. Services were December 26, 2011 at the United Methodist church in Clark. Interment was at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Clark.
Frank was born on November 21, 1920 at Faith, SD the son of Clyde and Mary Fite who had homesteaded in that area. He attended school at Faith and later the family moved to Wessington Springs.

Viola Maxine Burchfield
Viola Maxine Burchfield, 91, of Fort Collins, died at Poudre Valley Hospital Sunday morning, February 19, 2012.
Maxine was born November 2, 1920 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Charley and Effie (Carlyle) Caskey. After high school in Mitchell, Maxine attended Sioux Falls College where she graduated Summa cum Laude with a degree in Latin.
Her first teaching position was in Wessington Springs, South Dakota where she taught high school English. While in Wessington Springs, she met Charles Burchfield. They were married August 6, 1944 in Sioux Falls.

Brett Boomer, age 43, of Alpena, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral was Sunday, February 26, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Brett Alan Boomer was born February 5, 1969 in Minneapolis, MN to William and Bonnie (Winter) Gross. After his parents divorced when he was two, his mother married Jerry Boomer and Jerry adopted Brett.

Homer Jewel Rogers
Homer Jewel Rogers, 82, of Wessington Springs, died Monday evening, February 20, 2012 at the Prairie View Care Center in Woonsocket. A public wake was held Friday, February 24, at the backroom of the Hideout Lounge in Wessington Springs. Burial of his cremated remains will be held at a later date at the Rogers Cemetery at Gallatin, MO.
He was born on November 6, 1929 in Cavour, SD to Lester and Allie Violet (Roberts) Rogers.
He was united in marriage to Joyce Lemaster on December 16, 1950 in Lawton, OK.

Leonard Teveldal
Leonard Teveldal, 81, of Wessington Springs, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 with family by his side.
A memorial service was held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs with burial at Restlawn Memory Garden Cemetery, Huron.
Leonard Teveldal was born January 31, 1931 to Peder and Ida (Pederson) Teveldal, at Virgil, SD. He attended elementary school in Beadle County and high school in Alpena. He served in the Army, stationed in Japan, from 1952 to 1954.

OBITUARY
FREDA HANLON
Freda (Westlake) Hanlon, died February 15, 2012 at Weatherford, Texas at the age of 82 after suffering with years of Alzheimer’s.
Freda Marie was born January 15, 1930 to Ervil and Eva (Stone) Westlake in Jerauld County, South Dakota. She attended rural school in Jerauld County, one year of high school in Wessington Springs.
She moved to the Los Angeles, California area around 1954 and lived there until 2004.
At that time, she moved to Weatherford, Texas to be with her daughter, Jane, and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Eva (Phil) Lawrence, 2 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren all of Weatherford, Texas. One brother, Everett (Lucille) Westlake (Arletta, CA), 2 sisters, Doris Rutzen (Minnetonka, MN) and Mary Lou (Carl) Sampson (Tea, SD), many nieces, nephews and cousins and two special friends, Betty Cadwell and Betty Eddy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug of 44 years, parents, Ervil & Eva, her brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Karen (Voigt), one sister, Maxine Voigt and one brother in-law, Ervin Rutzen.
She was buried at Eternal Valley, Newhall, California on Monday, February 20th.
