TWO WESSINGTON SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES have risen to the top of their field in the same year. Jeff Fastnacht (left) and Dean Christensen are shown during the National Superintendents Convention in Denver, CO., last month. Jeff is the North Dakota School Superintendent of the Year and Dean holds the same distinction for South Dakota. A 1987 graduate of Wessington Springs High School, Fastnacht is superintendent of schools at Ellendale, N.D. He is the son of Gene and Gloria Fastnacht. Christensen is the superintendent of schools at Deuel (Clear Lake) SD, and a 1974 graduate of Wessington Springs High School. He is the son of Lavolla and the late Harvey Christensen. Although such records are probably not kept, it may be the only time that two individuals from the same high school have ever received Superintendent of the Year recognition for two states in the same year.
