221st Street (Alpena Road) -- One of the many rough spots on the road west of Alpena can be seen above. Alpena is shown in the background on the right side of the road. The Alpena Road is one of six immediate projects that would be undertaken in Jerauld County if a tax freeze opt out election passes on March 20. The Jerauld County commission is currently looking to re-grade and re-pave the road from Alpena to US Highway 281. The total cost would be $2.5 million and would be paid for using tax funds to a SIB (State Infrastructure Bank) loan. A $500,000 state grant could be used to provide funding for certain safety improvements on the stretch of road. - Duke Wenzel/True Dakotan
