THE SPRINGS ELEMENTARY 5th and 6th grade classes were already raising money to help make life better for a school girl in Haiti when the earthquake hit last week. The kids and their teachers, Connie McLaughlin and Kelli Schryock, already had over $500 saved to help Remica Dahana Raymond in school. The students and teachers realized that the country could use the money now and it is going to a relief fund that gives 100% of the money to the victims. The rest of the story tells about how the classes’ relationship with the girl from Haiti came about and can be found in your copy of the True Dakotan.

She has since been released from the hospital and has returned to her home to recover.

The Wessington Springs Volunteer Fire Department requests property owners in the town to clear snow away from fire hydrants that are located on their property.
In the case of a fire emergency, it would cost the firemen precious minutes to locate and clear a fire hydrant.
The fire department also wants the public to know that there are openings on the force. If you are interested in becoming a fireman please contact Keith Wetzel.
